For me the Journey on Relaxation and the Loving Kindness were my favorite activities and most beneficial. While I often struggled with not falling asleep I did find myself very relaxed yet rejuvenated at the same time. The Journey on Relaxation I repeated several times so that I could learn to just relax my mind, which after a couple weeks did in fact help. I loved the Loving Kindness exercise. I have learned to use mediation through the loving kindness practice more often than anything else. I have learned to implement these practices on a regular basis but only because I had to actually schedule them in my daily planner. I actually look forward to the time to myself and what I now call 'my cleansing the mind time'. The benefits for me have been a more positive outlook on others around me as well as my own personal being. I have learned to use an inner focus that I was not aware I had. I generate positive thoughts and attitude from it and exude those feelings around others. I love the way it makes we feel inside. I try to treat others with loving kindness. I wish and pray for good things for others instead of dwelling on those who do me wrong. It has certainly changed my perspective on people and life. I wish all of the best and a very peaceful and enlightening journey.

  2. Hey Mary,
I loved the loving-kindness exercise too and found that when practicing the exercises I was smiling to myself. That is great that you have taken these practices a step further and scheduled a time in your day planner! That's a good idea I'll have to do that to set a specific time each day as opposed to randomly putting the narrative on. This practice has done something similar to myself and brought awareness to my emotions and how I treat others. Great post!

  3. Mary,

Journey on Relaxation was one of my favorites too. Maybe it's because it was the first one and at the time, I was having a hard time with focusing and had just switched classes last minute to this one. This is the first time I have switched classes after the class has started and I credit this class to helping me get past post partum depression and find time for myself. Being "forced" to meditate and focus on the positives in my life are just what I needed to get out of my funk. I love the idea of putting these exercises on the schedule. I think this is something I should do because once class is over, I'm afraid these exercises that have been so helpful to me might fall to the wayside once new classes start.

    Thanks for the idea!: :)

  4. Mary,
I think that it is great that you have incorporated these exercises into your daily routine. I like the idea of having a few minutes to yourself and what a great way to spend them! I wish you a wonderful new journey ahead. I feel I got so much knowledge from this class and have learned so many new things about myself and see you have as well. Good stuff!
